I only compared them because they all act like interludes on the albums, at least imo, and don't feature any singing. But yeah, they aren't similar in sound at all, lol.
Owl City's songwriting talent is basically nonexistent, but he has some catchy songs.
Two random, (mostly) unpromoted, ignored singles that still outpeaked the infamous (heavily promoted) Gaga flops.
In all reality, Lana would've smashed back in her breakout if:
• Her team sent her songs to radio
• Her team made any effort to market her
• Lana Del Rey cared about being a mainstream artist
Being #1 on iTunes for a couple of days does not equate to smashing. For Christ's sake, Rihanal was #1 on iTunes for a whole week and ended up selling like 110K. It means nothing, especially not now when digital sales overall are freefalling and there aren't any super huge smashes like Uptown Funk or All About That Bass getting more than 150K weekly downloads.
Just be happy for her without all of this arrogance because she just isn't going to take off no matter how much ATRL wants her to.

"Young and Beautiful" was the only one that had a decent chart run; "West Coast" debuted at #17, fell off the chart the next week, re-entered at #100 a few weeks later, and was done. That's not a hit.
And "G.U.Y." wasn't that heavily promoted. Nor was "Marry the Night" exactly a flop.
Monsters are just pressed because Gaga is falling in a downward spiral and Lana is only getting more popular. It seems that these trends will just continue as we go into Lana's Honeymoon, and Gaga's next project (Artpop Act II or another jazz album?). Either way, you can't use the success argument because Lana releases experimental music that the GP isn't used to, while Gaga releases generic, watered-down EDM. And she can't even smash with that. Ultraviolence is also more acclaimed than Artpop and it seems like more and more critics are siding with Lana.
And you know that she doesn't have any hits (other than that quickly forgotten remix done completely against her will) when ALL her stans can use to justify her single "success" is peaks.
They'll march the damn streets shouting how West Coast reached the Top 20, acting like it didn't IMMEDIATELY fall off the Hot 100 afterwards.

I think he's a fairly creative lyricist, aside from things like "Good Time" although that was an obvious bid to get himself back on the charts.
But I've only heard that and the two hit singles from Ocean Eyes. So I could be wrong.
Marry The Night was definitely a notable flop.
How to tell: no one remembers it, it gets no recurrent airplay, it is virtually nonexistent in 2015.
There are a lot of moderate hits - not smashes - that aren't remembered and don't get recurrent airplay.
"Marry the Night" was most definitely an underperformance considering how heavily promoted it was. But it's not a flop. It peaked in the top 30 and sold 600k+ or something like that. That's by no means a smash, but it is a hit. It's only considered a flop here on ATRL because it ended Gaga's impressive streak of top ten hits and didn't peak in the top 20.

Seriously disagree. Gaga is a household name, has A-list name recognition, and had two hit singles off her last mainstream album. Lana is almost unknown to the general public and has nearly reached her expiration date.
Which is to say: Gaga can change everything with the right music, Lana just has to wait for Tumblr to move on to the next somewhat-pretty hipster balladeer.
