They do often but not always. There isn't a set way to collaborate. I'm sure they share ideas and discuss the sounds they're inspired by and bounce ideas off of each other.

I want Fernando. My fave Gaga song's have been produced by him. But I seriously want another Paparazzi-esque type song from her. That's one song that you can single out from all her other songs. Such a standout in her discography.

In Gaga's case, I wouldn't think so for the most part.

She writes the melodies, the chords, and will inevitably reference what vibe she wants to go for. So, that's the sound. It's just a question of execution from then on. They'll obviously bring ideas to the table, but the song is still the song - either good or not.

I wonder how much input he had on that song anyway. Paparazzi also stands out as having a different sound compared to the other songs they did together.

But it's not the production I think that makes Paparazzi standout. It's the melody, composition and vocals

I think that DJWS brought her the demos and together with Gaga they polished it together. Didnt he send to Gaga the Applause demo while she was drunk or smth?
The reason I dislike DJWS is because of Sex Dreams. Lord, what this song could have been if it was in the hands of a better producer. Almost all his songs (besides DWUW and BM) are a hit or miss, mainly miss.

On ARTPOP she worked a lot with previously made instrumentals and just wrote lyrics for them (Aura/the demo of Mary Jane Holland). She still has songs she wrote on the piano and then, with producers, transformed them into dance/pop/whatever songs.
