What paper or mag (New York something?) wrote an article about stan culture? It was golden. I still remember bits of it.

"How seriously you take it depends on how mentally healthy you are" or something like that.

And they had a bit about MuuMuse talking about Legentina sitting on a throne of unsold Bionic CDs.

I was born in 1992 and I stanned so hard during the teen pop domination. Then I fell off the wagon when urban music took over and came right back in late 2007/2008. Stan culture was so awesome during those days, you literally had people discussing this stuff openly in public.

There's a direct correlation between Gags emerging and making things provocative and interesting and her death immediately causing album sales to wither and decay as well as pop culture fading so far that Nick Jonas was considered stan worthy.

Stan culture had a lot to do with the rise of social media (especially twitter), too.

I remember keeping a list of every single WW trending topic the monsters had in 2011.

And Britney stans sending me death threats because I had the top tweet on the Hold It Against Me tag and my tweet was something like "Paused Gaga's Monster to listen to HIAM. Shrugged and went back to listening to Monster."

I'm so happy we've moved beyond trending topics mattering.
