as long as you work your ass off prior, it shouldn't be that hard. same goes for being here, you have to continue working hard and mantain. it'll help that everyone here is competitive as **** and will give you incentive to continue doing your best

This year my goal is to get a 4.0 GPA.

Do they check sophomore-senior year grades or all 4 years?

Also isn't the Personal Statement a big factor too?

I mean I major in Psych but I'm planning on applying to law school with my degree, so it depends on what you do with it.

if you have under a 4.0 you can try but just surpassing that will give you better odds. reason being, they get a lot of admissions and have to filter out between the good students and the better students

they focus on all years but put emphasis on your ACT/SAT scores so do your best on either of those. your personal statement is the opportunity for you to show them what you've accomplished and what you can accomplish if you're accepted, that's always important

Well I was like you and still scared I couldn't decide ANY major, and worried about money and liking. Then I decided I want to major / work in the music industry.

It makes sense for me. I know all about everything as a teenager already, you spend all this time discussing it on ATRL, and it's very interesting and something I'd be happy doing. + it pays well in most careers. You could look into that.

But yeah, I figure working in the music industry will likely be jobs that require lots of mathematics, analyzing, and financial/business classes.

Eh. But it's not like working in that industry will be a hard job EVERYONE wants. Most of the people working in the industry are elderly, so it'll be even better to start out young and fresh.

It just didn't feel right. I switched to psychology after that and was that for the reminder of the year (this was freshman year btw)

that's what i'm doing and why i want to transfer to usc. i major in marketing and minor in music industry (for the time being)

I'm going to be a freshman this coming fall at UCLA.

Is that GPA your UC GPA? Bc UC's have their own way of counting GPA's. It's usually higher than your high school's way of calculating GPA.

They only check 10th-11th grade grades but they monitor your senior year grades. They look at your course load and if there's a sudden drop in grades.

And yes, personal statements are important!!

It's getting more and more competitive to get admitted into the UC's, especially the top tier ones. UCLA's overall acceptance rate, for example has dipped to 17% for 2015, while Cal dipped to 16%. For in-state students, the acceptance rate to ucla was 16% and for Cal, 19%.
