J-pop's peak was around 2001-2, then again in 2007-8, and it's currently coming back HARD.

J-pop has always been pretty hit and miss for me. I LOVE Namie, but she's the only one who's ever truly captured my attention.
But yeah, 2011-2013 was such a good time to be a K-pop stan. I just don't care anymore.
