Ugh so how are we supposed to complete the national dex? Sorry if I sound like a noob but I just didn't pay attention to this kind of stuff before.
You can transfer pokemon from Gen V to VI and IV to V. I'd say you should get a 2DS so you can trade between X and Y and ORAS, as well as being able to play the Gen IV games on them.

You can't trade from an old game to a new new one. Just from X/Y to X/Y.
I do have diamond and nintendo ds and i do have X and Nintendo 3ds but i cant trade. SADLY
