Tinashe, Natalie La Rose, Azealia Banks, Ciara, all black females that deserved some sort of recognition.
Rihanna should've gotten more than one nom as well.

ABC: Taylor Misses the point of Nicki's rant.
Salon:10 questions Taylor Swift could have asked herself before picking a fight with Nicki Minaj
Quote:
Rather than assuming (forgive me) bad blood on Minaj’s part with that initial tweet, Swift could have stepped back before jumping in and asked herself a few questions first. Such as:
1. What toxic mix of subconscious guilt and self-absorption makes me read Nicki’s tweet and want to make it all about me-me-me?
2. What if I only assumed Minaj was talking about me because on some level, even though I cannot yet articulate it, I am at least half-aware that I benefit personally and professionally every day from systems and institutions that assign both innocence and power to women who look like me, at the expense of other women who do not?
3. And what if my girl-power brand of generic feminism has unwittingly contributed to that oppression, and what if, upon realizing this, it begins to dawn on me that I could use my power to call attention to that inequity and actively work against it, even if it is uncomfortable to me at times or off-putting to the fans who prefer kitty-cat Instagrams — in other words, what if whatever it is that I claim has been “nothing but love & support” for Minaj hasn’t actually done **** to dismantle the severe ****itude of the unwritten, ironclad rules, so who cares if I took down Spotify and Apple, what ****ing good is that really?
4. Can I even reasonably stake something as trite as “girl power” on a video that gleefully and publicly shames and intimidates another woman, even if I do say she’s an unscrupulous business rival, by essentially flaunting the collective box office power of my meticulously-curated gang of premium BFFs — oh my god, am I going to be really embarrassed about that in 10 years?
5. What if Nicki’s right, I mean look at Ed Sheeran’s lazy-ass Video of the Year nominee “Thinking Out Loud,” wholly-unremarkable footage of that floppy-haired dancing vest twirling TV-ready Brittany Cherry around in a virginal white gauzy outfit like some kind of outtake from a bad ‘90s teen underdog movie, this is what passes for cultural impact and excellence?
6. While I’m at it, what is the deal with Marc Ronson feat. Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk,” which opens with a shot of the strutting body of a woman whose face I’m never allowed to see and quickly turns to a celebration of the male ensemble, vamping and dancing for each other and occasionally catcalling a parade of more women whose faces we aren’t allowed to see, save one auntie-like figure under the lone hair dryer not commandeered by this preening group of beauty-shop infiltrators, her visible face and bemused expression clearly a sign that she is not to be regarded as a sexual being, I mean Jesus, if you just watch it with the sound off, the Madonna-***** complex on this retrograde sanitized sleaze, am I right?
7. Oh Christ, are these two flimsy entertainments that beat out Nicki’s epic, anarchic, unapologetically powerful “Anaconda” the actual apex of the male gaze turned navel-ward?
8. What if I decided to listen more than I talk in these situations, even if faux-dorky nervous-talking and -flailing are my hackneyed trademarks, a messiness I am indulged because women like me aren’t automatically assumed to be angry or uneducated or out of control, and to consider how I have unconsciously profited off of the genius and work of female musicians of color, and what I might do in the future to balance those books?
9. Ah, ****, what if Kanye was right?
10. Is it too late to just say **** all this hollow ******** I bought into when I was 15 and go study in solitude for a year or two with the nuns who are screwing Katy Perry over on that real estate deal? And can I take my cats?

abundantly clear. But it seems the Taylor fans are just as narcissistic as she is.
Good thing Nicki didn't say "blonde women with very slim bodies," as we all know Taylor is the only blonde slim woman to ever be nominated for VOTY.

As for that tweet, Taylor's is the only one with skinny girls that MTV's got for VOTY. And Anaconda is a song that literally says "**** the skinny bitches." She's dissing Taylor
And for the millionth time, WHY DO YOU ALL IGNORE BEYONCÉ AND KENDRICK'S NOMINATIONS FOR VOTY!?!?!?
|
Because they desperately want it to seem like Nicki is right. She isn't.
This is Nicki who always highlights the so-called racism in show business. See her lyrics and videos.
No one is being racist towards her. Plenty of black artists got nominated for the VMA.
She really needs to move on.

I'm excited to see what Taylor's team is cooking up in light of all this. She NEVER has bad PR.

It's ridiculous to say I'm not racist, I have black friend right after you've said something racist. But Taylor has never done anything racist and clearly she doesn't have a problem with black people since she's friends with many of them, they're in her music videos ect.

How many years ago was that? Things change, most of the nominees this year are black...

While I can see a case that they deserved noms, none of those four are successful in a glorified popularity contest (I actually don't even know who Natalie is), that's why they weren't nominated. Not race.
The only videos she had out in time were AO, which was lucky to get one nomination, and 45S, which is a genuinely weak video. Normally Riri kills it with her vids, and I'm a big fan, but her killer video this year just missed the cutoff date which is why BBHMM walked off with nothing.

- Nicki should blame MTV for having ignored her.
- Black artists received many nominations, including Beyonce, Bruno and Kendrick Lamar (twice) for VOTY.
- Nicki also got nominated in other categories.
- Taylor's never been racist, she even hired black dancers to her Shake It Off video.
- Some of Taylor's backing vocalists and musicians are also black.
- Taylor was always supporting Nicki.
- Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

|
I can't tell if this post is serious of not, but Bruno Mars is not black.
And dead at Taylor's dancers, backup vocalists and musicians are black being an argument.

OMG guys you really have no idea how Media and Entertainment business works
You realize that when Media start reporting this tweet they'd be like "nicki takes a jab at Taylor"
and You realize that this tweet indicates that Taylor is nominated, not because her video DESERVES it, but because she is White girl with a slim body.
This hurts TAYLOR's Image. I won't be surprised if Taylor's own team asked her to reply to Nicki.
Y'all think it's so simple, yet it actually isn't.
One media outlet reporting this Nicki tweet, and many many people will be like "So Nicki thinks Taylor was nominated because she is white and have a slim body" and **** like that.
And believe it or not, this is hurting Taylor's reputation and it's unnecessary at the very least from Nicki's part.

Because Nicki made it about race, and that kinda had everyone shook.
She can't admit that it was an issue about HER not being nominated versus Taylor getting nominated, and she didn't expect Taylor to @ her. So when she did, she turned around and said it was about racism/sexism/etc. instead about her being mad that she alone wasn't nominated while Taylor was.
Plus, she deleted the Taylor-directed tweet(s), and all that's apparent now are her tweets about race, so it make it seem Taylor is arguing against that.

Both of them are wrong but Taylor shouldn't have commented.
At least Nicki was trying to make valid points and had a reason why she's mad unlike Taylor who tried bringing her ****ing white feminism into this.
