and I think Taylor Swift responded because Nicki tweeted she was going to go up stage to win her awards regardless indicating she was going to pull a Kanye if she did not win. I guess Taylor felt like that tweet was directed towards her.
|
Or maybe she responded because Nicki's tweets were blatantly about Taylor since she's the only other woman in the category that isn't curvy.

You say this but that doesn't even prove she was talking about Taylor. She's talking about if she was white she would have gotten the nom, irrespective of what taylor does or does not have.

Where was she before she was "snubbed"? If it is SUCH and issue why wasn't it brought up by her before? Nicki CLEARLY did not care about this alleged issue until it affected her. She doesn't give a rat's ass about the race issue, she cares about the fact that she wasn't nominated. If she was nominated, she wouldn't see it as an issue (whether or not it is) because SHE got the nomination she wanted, but since she didn't get what she wanted it's all of a sudden an issue. The transparency is real

Her song is MUCH more successful yet you don't see her whining?
There's absolutely no need for her to come for people who've done nothing but support her all this while and that includes Taylor and the white media she's trashing

Some people aren't as vocal with their opinion as others but I doubt Megan could afford any bad PR this early in her career

Nicki is literally wrong from every angle lol.
"I wasn't nominated because I'm black!" *Many other nominee's in the category are black*
"It's not fair that I wasn't nominated because my song was HUGE! It was so successful that it clearly deserves a nomination" *All of the songs in the category sans the two by other black artists were 300x more successful than Anaconda was*
She's an idiot and I'm glad she's showing her ass like this today.

What does using gender less terms have to do with this and how would it benefit my/her argument
|
Lol she was nominated for best collab, what more does she want? A dual nomination for that AND Feeling Myself which was a blip in the radar?
Gender less term would help her/your argument because I could see why she could be talking about anyone but in this instance, she could only have been referring to two people, one being unlikely, the other being the reason why this thread was created.

That's no excuse though. It's not hard to be grateful for being nominated multiple times. A few deserving people didn't get nominated at all.
Literally, who else is even bitching about not getting a nom in a category they wanted? It's ridiculous

But Nicki HAS BEEN tweeting about how if she was "another kind of artist", "a skinny girl", etc., she would be nominated, as if the VMAs had some kind of bias against her even when every label that you could apply to Nicki (female, black, foreigner, rapper) has been nominated both this year and the last one. The VMAs didnt think her video was more deserving than the others and so they didnt nominate her. Is it a bad decision? Maybe, but it has nothing to do with racism, sexism, etc.
|
lol She was always talking about race. She just didn't outright say it because she probably didn't want whats happening now to happen. But I'm glad she just said it and stopped alluding to it.
When she said "another kind of artist", she was talking about a white artist. When she said "a skinny girl", she was talking about skinny white girls.
It probably was easier for her to allude to it so she wouldn't be accused of "using the race card" or make white people upset at her.

The "white media" has been VERY kind to Nicki. Too kind. She got away with a video where she is a Nazi "bad bitch" being hailed by everyone around her. When called out, she pretended not knowing anything about her own video and pointed fingers at her team. She should count her blessings every minute of everyday for getting away with that.
She's also singing some very questionable lyrics on her current Gueta pop single and the "white media" is also letting her get away with it.

Why "hypersexualization of women" and not the celebration of "thick girls" taking charge of their sexuality and rivaling society's beauty standards? Even if it didn't win, it deserved the nomination. It was huge.
|
Because it wasn't rivaling beauty standards. The song/video wasn't about curvy girls, it was about big butts. Not a coincidence, it was released around the same time twerking and big butts peaked. Also not a coincidence, it sampled a song that objectified women to begin with. Nicki wasn't making a statement, she was just milking a situation. Hell, even the lyrics themselves have no message. They're all about wanting big dicks, sex, and drugs. AKA everything she and everyone in the music industry has written about. The song changed nothing and the video was just a soft **** fest. Sorry about it.
Please do not come at me and try to tell me she's a feminist and defies beauty standards, because her verses in Hey Mama are the complete opposite of that and only justify my point about Anaconda hypersexualizing women. Heck, if anything, she's putting women back into a box. "Yes I'll do the cooking, yes I'll do the cleaning, yes I keep the ***** real sweet for your eating". Tell me where the sex-and-body-positiveness and gender-norm-defiance is in those lyrics.

Nicki is so transparent and since when were VMAs such a big deal. No one gives a damn who wins anyway.

She was nominated with a collab alongside 2 white women instead of along side a black women, the latter clearly should have been a contender but wasn't, that's the issue she's referring to.
But black males aren't struggling to get nominations so how would it help. What's so wrong with saying black females instead of black people? Black women deserve an equal amount of praise and appreciate and that can only happen when we start to acknowledge the underlying struggle of black females in the already struggling black community

I see you're failing to see the point. Im not even talking about racial issues or the Taylor thing, but Nicki has been saying that the VMAs have a bias against her and that if she was different (either in weight, nationality, race, gender or genre) she would be nominated, even when that's not the case because people who share her same conditions are in fact, nominated.
Is racism a thing? Yes, it is
Is it good that Nicki talks about it? Of course it is
Are the VMAs racist / xenophobic / sexist / etc? No, they are definitely not, and her actually attempting to say they are is nothing short of embarrassing

When it came to transparency I'm talking about her transparency with this VMA issue. As a black person I'm beyond happy that she's speaking on the real issues that black people face but with this trivial VMA fiasco it's obvious she's only complaining because she was "snubbed"
