She cracked the U.S twice, as you can see with the single/albums, in the 80s then again in the 00s. It's a comment misconception that she "never" cracked the U.S though, she just never had lasting success.

She had indie hits but never really had mainstream hits. In the UK she had multiple top 20 hits

Luv her though. She's sold 1M+ albums in the US despite her lack of airplay too.
