Yes! Not to mention the ice skating/prop shed scene, and the killer is genuinely shocking. Probably my fav. Standalone 80s slasher (I'd take ANOES 1/3/4 and Fridays 2/4/6 over it for sure as far as franchise ones go)

Amazing scene, though I actually prefer the prop shed chase. Crazy suspenseful, and a really shocking ending. I really thought Tara was going to be the final girl seeing as she was, really, the last one standing and most 80s final girls got chase scenes

I'm going to watch It Follows this week, someone told me it has this reddit nosleep story feeling but I don't know if that's good or bad I've seen Marble Hornets comparisons and while everyone seemed to like it, it bored me to death so let me hope the film is good.

Any other horror film that is just atmospheric and does not involve violence/blood everywhere and doesn't rely heavily on cheap scares?

But the ending was not good imo? It was too open for me and came too suddenly

The ending was very polarizing and every person I watched it with was pissed. I like the ambiguity because they didn't really need to show a definitive ending. The person walking behind them could've been "it" or could've been any random person. We know they'll have to live for the rest of their lives in paranoia and their time could come at any moment. They could've defeated it when they shot it at the pool but they'll never know if that actually worked or not. It's completely open for interpretation which fits with the theme of the movie. It's kind of refreshing for a horror ending.

Wait. I forgot about the pool scene when the water was so weirdly red. I defintely think it died there. It wasn't seen after that, right? I'm sure it's dead, because that looked too special for it just to be still alive.

I was a bit confused at the end because of the intro scene with the girl sitting at the beach and then found dead. The whole time I thought it was the main girl. After the movie ended I had to go back to realize it's another girl.

Now after thinking about it I like the ending but it was underwhelming when watching the movie. I wish they would've just shown the twink guy that was in love with the main girl getting killed and the main girl right after because she was the next in like. Idk

Collector is awesome! So suspenseful, plus I loved Arkin. You gotta see the sequel to, it's even better.

Right, it wasn't definitively seen after that. The blood was strange, which is a good reason to believe that it died, but there's no saying that it can't just spring up again.

Sis they don't even look that similar! Although my friend thought the same thing... that would be a frustrating way to first watch the film. I'm pretty sure that the girl in the beginning was actually one of the forms of it at the beach scene when it was following Jay out of the shed to the car. I haven't compared them to be 100% but other people have said that too. It was a cool way to reference that.

I understand the disappointment. That's a natural reaction for anyone in the first viewing, I was confused/shocked too but I thought about it for a little bit and decided it was more effective, for me, than showing a definitive ending. It represents well not only the story of the film but the metaphors that the film stands for.

The only thing that I'm worried about is, a sequel is very likely to happen since it was such a success, and I don't know if I want them to continue on Jay and Paul's storyline or not. The director said that switching the title to "Follow It" would be an interesting concept, probably having them trace back its roots, but I really like how they wrapped their story up and I don't want another film at all. It's one of those classics that should be left untouched. Hopefully the director feels the same, unless he's sure he can capture the greatness of the original again.

The ending literally screams sequel but I'm not sure if it would pay off. As you said, it should stay untouched although it has potential for another movie. The movie is just so great, definitely one of the best movies I've seen. A sequel could kinda ruin but I would be definitely watching though

I usually don't find movies scary and that movie wasn't that scary either but the scene with the tall guy coming through the door with the female friend had me shook

Omg. I cannot BELIEVE I forgot this movie when listing good slasher-ey ones. Easy 10/10 from me, so... Completely disagreed. Though I felt pretty similarly after the ending, to be fair (which is the whole point)

As for Friday, 1 is definitely weak. 2's pretty remake-y, but WAY better. Less filler, no cheat reveal, better acting, and I liked the characters, especially Ginny (one of my all time fav. final girls. She'd easily make Top 10 ever for me). 3+ tend to be less like remakes of 1, each with their own gimmick/twist. Till the remake, anyways.

Just rewatched Cry_Wolf. So very underrated. One of my fav. 2000s slashers
