I'm like miserable, I'm in NYC and it's 95 degrees (one of the hottest days this year) on a Sunday and I'm not near a body of water that I can swim in. All I want to do is go to the beach and swim all day.

A few weeks ago I was at my uncle's house and he was saying that he likes this "song with Tom Hanks in the video" and his wife was like "yeah it's by that girl Jenkins"
I was the only one who actually knew her name

They're pretty similar, though.

Feels so weird that I'll be starting uni in two months. My accommodation is sorted, my place on the degree is confirmed, I've been offered a place on the additional Japanese course ( ), I'm already starting to talk to people who are going too... It's so weird.

So in the future, instead of travelling on planes and boats, you can buy teleport machines, so you can travel, without ever leaving your house. You can get machines for different places all around the world. When you teleport to a location, your real body stays at home, but your mind goes into an avatar version of your body (like a robot version of you, or a holographic you etc). This woman uses one of the teleport machines to go on a work trip to NYC. Whilst there she meets another avatar/holographic person and they end up falling in love. However because it's only an avatar/fake version of your body, it doesn't feel any pain and also can't have sex etc. So essentially it's just your mind that's in the body, but it's not a real human experience. This woman basically spends all her time with this avatar man, so much so, that she basically failed to attend an important work meeting that she was sent there for and gets fired from her job. So this woman eventually decides that she wants to travel for real and meet up with the guy behind the avatar and meet the real him, because she's become quite attached to him, and she has free time since she got fired. He makes up lots of excuses though and says he's too busy but eventually decides she should come to his house. So instead of using an avatar, she gets on a plane, with her real body, and flies to his house. When she arrives there's no answer at the door, she sneaks around the back and looks in a window and notices nobody is home. She finds an unlocked side-door and goes inside. She looks around his house, but something seems odd. There's no pictures of him anywhere, it's very dirty and she generally has a bad feeling about it. She notices a light, coming from underneath a door just underneath the stairs. As she cracks open the door she finds stairs leading down into the basement. Slowly she creeps down, trying not to make a noise, so she can surprise him if he's down there. As she takes the last step she screams in horror. All around the basement are piles of dead bodies and teleport machines. Each of these machines belong to one of the dead people, the guy in the house is obviously a futuristic catfish. He's murdered all these people and stolen their avatars and uses them to travel the world and meet people, luring them into his home so he can murder them. She panics, unsure what to do. She grabs her cell phone and calls her friend who works for the teleport manufacturing company. She tells him where she is and what she has found. He checks the address in his database and she realizes that it's not the same guy who she thought she was in love with. She had been catfished. Just as she finds out, she hears the front door of the house go. She quickly hangs up and looks for an escape.....

She runs to the basement window, trying desperately to pull it open. She pulls and pulls as she hears footsteps above her head. She hears the basement door open, when suddenly the window flings open! But wait, there are bars covering the window, there's no way to get out. She hears the footsteps beginning to come down the stairs, one by one. She's frozen to the spot, unsure what to do. Out of options she crouches behind a pile of boxes, hoping to not be seen. The footsteps make their way to the bottom of the stairs, and all is silent. 10 seconds passes and she begins to sweat, wondering whether she has been spotted. Her breathing increases, her heart pounds faster and faster. But just like that, the footsteps begin going back upstairs. She waits until she hears the basement door go again, before slowly poking her head above the boxes to check he's gone. She comes out from the boxes and begins to creep around, desperately trying to figure out how to escape. Her only option is to go back upstairs and out the side-door she came in. One step at a time, she places one foot on each step, as the step creaks she inhales sharply, freezing in her spot, before carrying on to climb the stairs. As she reaches the basement door she stops and positions her eye in a crack in the door, looking to see if the coast is clear. She waits, all is silent... Suddenly a figure walks past the door and into the kitchen. She jumps back in shock, knocking over a rake, but she manages to snatch it before it hits the ground and makes a noise. She grabs the basement door handle and slowly twists it, she places her foot out and takes a step, trying to be as quiet as possible. She realizes she can't escape out the side door as the man is in the kitchen where the exit is. She slowly shuffles towards the front door. As she reaches it she turns the handle.. but it's locked! Just as she does this she hears a bang in the kitchen, she panics, turns around and runs upstairs...

Well, Japanese is only my "for fun" language. I'll be majoring in German and Spanish, minoring in Russian, then additionally studying Japanese so it won't really be taking priority.
