If a private citizen texts another private citizen, that citizen receiving the texts can do whatever he wants with them. He's not obligated to keep it to himself and it's ridiculous and unrealistic to expect that he is.

Turns out the escort may have pulled off a hoax. Also he isn't the reddit CFO. He's the CFO of Conde Nast which owns Reddit

This could end up blowing up in Gawker's face. Jordan Sargent will most likely lose his job and could face criminal charges if it comes to light that he knew about "ryan's" extortion before publishing the article and became an accessory.

This is all riding on the fact that Hulk Hogan doesn't destroy Gawker in trial in the Fall which is looking likely.

And no, I said there is no obligation for privacy. He texted an escort for sex (which you tried to claim isn't risky behavior when it definitely is). He didn't sign some contract with the escort and definitely not some gossip site.
