Cuz apparently Jlaw is a box office draw and they want people to see her in the trailer.

Also, anyone else think that Jlaw's "lack of interest" in continuing the franchise just a ploy to get a higher pay check?

She sort of deserves one tbh. DOFP got more press from her at one premiere in NY than the rest combined at all the world premieres. But it's not like she needs this franchise so I think she's in a pretty great place to decide, she's even been honest about wanting an offer in the interview Izzy posted.

No, she has blown up since she started in this franchise, with Hunger Games boosting her popularity and her winning criticial acclaim through Silver Linings Playbook, Winter's Bone and American Hustle. She is almost certainly the most in demand young actress in Hollywood due to her combination of acclaim and popularity. As such JLaw will be getting offered the best scripts and roles out there and she can really pick and choose the roles she wants. The X-Men franchise are great films but they are ensemble films which means JLaw has relatively small amounts of dialogue and screentime. Also remember that JLaw has already played Mystique 3 times (as of this film) and the process requires a lot of hassle putting on all that blue makeup.

JLaw is getting offered more extensive roles, requiring less makeup and for more money. It is a no-brainer for her to move on. Plus even if the X-Men franchise carried on with her character Mystique, they could easily recast without any fuss and simply explain the new actress is just Mystique adopting a new face. Due to her powers Mystique can literally be played by anyone without it breaking in-movie lore. Her character is therefore literally the easiest to recast.

I don't get why studios spend all this money on trailers just to show to a group of super-fans at comic con and force the actual audience to have their first impression of a movie ruined through watching it on a crap quality postage stamp sized video. Clearly failing to adapt to the modern digital world.

Regardless, looks amazing. Hope they do Cyclops right, Storm may have been screwed over in the movies but he has been completely ****ed due to Wolverine.


Watched the Rogue cut of DOFP last night, it was awesome but I get why the scenes were cut - every bonus clip was just extra fluff that wasn't really needed in a streamline movie. I did like the confirmation the young girl wasn't Scarlet Witch though (might've been in the actual movie but I've forgot? I know it was confirmed in an interview), hopefully she becomes Polaris and both Maximoff sisters get a role in future movies. Polaris v Magneto could be an amazing fight.

Though I guess Disney-Marvel have claimed Scarlet Witch for themselves..
