Not even a side effect. It's one Hive member who worked it into a Billboard article about the global release day, and the Hive ran with it. In reality the industry has been working on it for years.

I don't think any Hive has been saying she caused a global release date, and it could've been in the works prior to her album. They're saying she caused them to choose Friday as the new day, which didn't multiple credible sources state her album had a hand in doing? So it's not like they're making it up. If those same sources claimed a Britney, Katy, etc album played a role in deciding the day then their respective fanbases would be posting "_____ CHANGED THE INDUSTRY!!" too.

Nope. It was only the one Billboard article, and then a few more copying from that article. And she was only credited as one of the things that "instigated the conversation", it wasn't about the actual chosen day.
