This tbh, the swifties are like that as a whole, very often. If Katy or someone else released 1989, they would say it isn't as good as they say it is knowing Taylor released it. Similarly, there are songs that Katy ha on Prism, let's say, that would be praised highly ifTaylor had released them

Releasing a song that's ALREADY hugely successful as a single is not taking a risk, it's doing the OPPOSITE (Playing it safe isn't inherently bad and she made the right call business-wise, but that doesn't mean it's a risk) And it only became a buzz single due to hype in the first place (RE: Smashing WOA to pieces)

Actually... yeah. Birthday video is fairly risky. I think you could argue TIHWD was kinda risky too if only because it's such a bad song, even by Katy standards. It's really more like noise than music. Both backfired badly too, so

That isn't taking a big risk because if she wasn't "that much established" according to you, then she didn't have much to lose by switching genres. Either way, it's not like making one album with three pop-rock songs and then making an album with zero pop-rock songs is much of a shift. Do people think?

It's not a risk if you debut doing that and keep doing it. Sex sells. If anything, there aren't many Pop artists nowadays who don't do that.

I don't really care to hear the essays swifties are writing about the risk taylor has taken in her career but if someone were to listen to both their discographies Taylor wouldn't offend one person at all while Katy would have offended plenty with various tracks. that fact can't be disputed....

The biggest contradiction in this thread:

KatyKatz saying that switching genres to pop with Max Martin isn't risky, because at the end of the day, she's working with the biggest pop producer in the world! Meanwhile, Max has written 12 songs with Taylor over two albums and has written 19 for Katy over three albums (and a re-release)... Does nobody see the issue with this argument? It makes no sense for the Katz!
