During a surprise appearance at a well-known jazz club following a performance with Tony Bennett at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Gaga belted out “La Vie en Rose” with mostly spot-on French pronunciation. (This wasn’t the first time she’s knocked this performance out of the park: In May, she gave a more formal performance at the Hollywood Bowl. She’s also held her own in French-language radio interviews.) Gaga’s version of the Edith Piaf standard is an emotional and technical tour de force—dramatic, sexy, and impassioned, and as Piaf tributes go, she gives Marion Cotillard a run for her money.

OMG! I can't.
But I don't think the media/critics are overrating her, at least not vocally. The reason why a lot of people are praising her to high heavens is because, not a lot of them were familiar with the fact that she can actually
sang & not just sing. People are sort of taken aback. (Ex. Oscars '15)
Majority of the pop girls can't actually sing or are mediocre, at best and Gaga is of course, grouped with the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna etc., who are absolutely terrible as vocalists. So when those, who think off all the pop girls as untalented bimbos hear Gaga sing like this, they are genuinely shocked. And thus ensues the never ending praise.
