It's been a thing for almost two years now. The reason is ATRL gets in trouble legally for not crediting the author/site. 50% or less is the rule on posting articles.

The warning tags are primarily for obscene content like blood and gore. Nudes by their very nature are sexual and banned. Don't even act new when this has been the rule for several years now.

I'm paraphrasing this so a mod can correct me if I'm wrong but the reason for the 50% or less is this: you're basically "stealing" the traffic away from the site if you use the whole article. By limiting it to less than 50%, you're not only crediting the site with the material but redirecting traffic properly to them too.

Makes sense. I guess I was caught off guard cause I've done it before and no-one has said anything or warned me about it. (Well now they will )
