Anyway yes. No other pop girl besides Gaga would dare to do a video like that. (Hell even Gaga might've thought it was too much, but she does kill a lot of ppl in her videos

Well yes S&M was quite risky

I see you desperately wanted to turn this into another Rihanna vs Beyonce thread.
Clearly everyone is talking about video visuals and images.
Not album release strategies.

Yes well of course two videos are not going to be the same. I found BBHMM a bit cartoonish too with the types of camera shots they had going. It was no raw and gritty display of violence. It was pretty whimsicial from the fashion to the scenarios they had happen (knocking her over the head with a beer bottle is pure slapstick, for example).
But the concepts are still the same, even if the execution differs.

RIhanna is my fave and I love the video but not really. Nudity isn't really that "risky" anymore, even though it does attract a lot of attention.

Rihanna is def risky in some aspects. But No
That would be, and always will be, the one and only queen of pop, queen of taking risks, Madonna Ciccone.
But believe what you may.

Every second you spend trying to bring up Beyonce in a thread that clearly has nothing to do with her, TIDAL loses thousands of subscribers. Beyoncé her risk.

The question is if Rihanna is the riskiest popgirl, and it was answered by negating it using another popgirl (and it's valid to back up your answer with any time of argument, not just what people have already said). How is that desperately trying to do anything? I don't think Beyoncé is the riskiest though, but you're the one making it about something it's not. Not the other way around.

Just 'cause the era is being a mess does not mean she's doing what she wants. And lol at you thinking this song and video weren't created thinking in the general public after 45S and AO.

WHAT GORE!?!?!?! If it was real gore youtube would have placed a warning and there would be explicit and clean versions, but there's none, because it's as basic as basic can get

And? It simply shows that Rih is trying to cash in on such an outdated form of controversy and risk. While she's busy murdering people like Gaga, Bey, Madonna, Janet, etc. did YEARS ago, Gaga just released a successful jazz album that has garnered her much acclaim and press as a vocalist and Beyonce had one of the most shocking and talked about album releases of all time.

This thread is about popgirls though. Is Beyoncé not one?
And... I'm pretty sure I saw Rihanna up there on stage at the TIDAL launch too. Where is your logic?

There's nothing risky about Gaga releasing a jazz album
Maybe after TFM but not after artpop

"TIDAL loses thousands of subscribers?" Would that be the reason why Rihanna was missing from the Forbes 100 list?

What is risky about Rihanna is that she is constantly changing her look and sound. This has potential to alienate people and force them to know you in a different way which is a big risk.
Though, I think this is a smart risk as you avoid having what many popstars face: getting stuck in a style and then not being "cool" anymore (example: Kelly Clarkson, Avril)
