Then isn't RIAA grossly inflating streams in their certs? 100 streams = 1 sale according to RIAA
While in reality it's more like 600 free streams = 1 sale, when it comes to revenue for the label/artists

Financially, a $1.29 song generates $0.903 for a label. Streaming revenues vary slightly, but Spotify for example generates $0.0012 for a freemium stream and $.0059 for a premium stream. Since about 75% of users are freemium, we can say that an average stream nets $0.002375, which means that a song purchase is worth
380 streams, at least on Spotify. It's worth 753 freemium streams, or 153 premium streams. For VEVO it's almost the same: "artists stand to earn anywhere from $0.00222 to $0.0025 per stream." (
