Thankfully we have Bey, Madonna, Brit etc right now still.
Also, girls like Gaga who lack a natural dancing talent, but work their ass off to do their 110% with the ability that they have is enough for me to enjoy.
You are a VOCALIST, first and foremost. Save your basic ass choreo in an embarrassing attempt to seem like this larger than life entertainer. You are not Michael and you are NOT Beyonce.. you were signed to produce your music with your VOICE..sing for your life. I'm not here for mediocre vocals.
Besides the few pop girls who dance (Beyonce, Ciara, Tinashe, Britney and Janet) pop girls don't dance anymore. It used to be apart of the pop star requirement in order to have the full package. Is dancing a thing of the past for pop music?
Tinashe is the only newbie I can think of that dances
This isn't the early 2000s.
Nowadays singing standards are higher, so they focus more on singing than dancing.
It's sad. I mean it already started with the whole EDM inspired era that we just came from, where 90% of the acts didn't even bothered to do more than a few hand movements, while they recorded pop smashes with freaking EDM breaks throughout
I don't think not dancing has ever been foreign to pop music -- there have always been equal number huge mainstream pop acts that didn't dance as ones that did. But the thing about that was, there had to be an exceeding talent level SOMEWHERE. Like in the 80s/90s, if you weren't an incredible vocalist (Whitney, Mariah) you for damn sure had to be one HELL of a dancer/performer (Janet, Madonna). In the last decade we started seeing acts that weren't particularly fitting into either category have massive success and that wasn't the norm prior. I guess in the digital/social media age things have become more image focused than ever before as fans can follow the daily comings and goings of their favorite celebrities in a way that wasn't possible before. Hence the influx of people becoming massively famous as well with literally ZERO talent like Paris/Kim K.
Thanks, I actually had an eye test at Specsavers and they said my eye sight is really good. Thank God because my eyes are probably my best feature I wouldn't want to cover them with glasses!
If you CAN dance, it gives you an edge but I personally don't think it's necessary as long as you can sing. If you can't dance, you can't dance. I don't see it as something that's "in" or "out"... If we excluded every popstar that couldn't dance then we'd definitely miss out on a lot.
