Yeah, but "just being there" is better than being caught in Audrey and Da'Vonne's web of lies and betrayal. This is only day 10 - no need to be centre stage, yet. John is just sitting back and watching everything go down while taking notes. It's very smart, and he'll be able to use his gained knowledge to his advantage later on.

Well we obviously have a different definition of a "great game" so this discussion isnt going anywhere ... but you do realize that there is a middle between having no game at all and being a big character like Jace or Audrey and overplaying it...
Look at Meg for example ... I may think thats shes just as annoying as John personality wise ... but her game is surprisingly good in my opinion

Of course I know there's a difference. Meg, Shelli, Vanessa and John are all in pretty good spots.

As much as I love John, I think Clay's game is the best right now. He's super social, liked by pretty much everyone sans Dae (who no one trusts anyway), and he has an influence on both sides. He's in a great spot.

People like Vanessa and John AREN'T playing great games—they're just not really playing right now. And that's fine. It's early.But being irrelevant doesn't make you a great gameplayer. Anyone can shut up and fade into the background when there's 16 people in a house. They could actually start playing the game and be amazing or they could be horrible and get evicted mid season when they start playing.

People like Meg and Clay are actually playing the game off the bad but are doing it in a way that they aren't on anyone's radar. That's playing a great game.

Shelli's somewhere in between.

Playing the game isn't all about your strategy and alliances, though. John has a great social game going on - he's present and making friendships, but he isn't over inserting himself into situations.
