In all honesty, it felt awkward at first. They performed fine, but it was clear on stage that they weren't really sure how to handle things and tried putting on their biggest smiles to hide their insecurities about the band's future.
Now though, I think they've had time to heal and really become themselves. They aren't trying to make up for Zayn's departure anymore; they're just being themselves again.
Zayn's talent is missed, but they're still One Direction through and through.
