I kind of understand why she didn't release this first though. This feels like the type of song that is song big that it cannibalizes the rest of the singles of the era. I think starting the era with the song would left the rest of singles dead in the water.
The way she did it, I Really Like You brings her back onto the scene and gets played enough on the radio that they'll hopefully play the next single but not so big that it gets in the way of second single

Right? I always had faith in her, but I didn't realize I'd be transported to heaven for 4 minutes and 11 seconds like this. The sax melody is amazing. The chorus vocal melody is amazing. Her vocals have never been better. Everything is so good.
