They have lost their ability to think rationally. PR is supposed to make a company generate positive headlines and look good.
What happened was
1) Apple announced they wouldn't be paying artists for trial period.
2) Indie labels complained.
3) Taylor complained.
4) Media started running negative stories about Apple not paying content creators.
5) Apple caved in and changed their policy and now pay content creators in order to not look like greedy b@stards.
According to the consiracy theorists, Apple were intending to pay royalties all along and this was all part of Apple's secret plan to give themselves good PR. How is that PR? How does that make Apple look good?
Good PR would have been
1)Apple announce they would be paying artists for trial period
2) Everyone happy, apart from competitors. The end!
The hilarious thing is that these crazies have suddenly concluded that they alone are smart enough to figure out Apple's secret masterplan, while the rest of the music industry and the mainstream media are too foolish to understand what happened and are reporting it at face value. So the way it goes is that Apple had a completely unneeded, convoluted, risky secret PR plan, and it was so secret that the media did not spot it and expose it, but these atrl crazies were able to figure it out instantly, without any evidence whatsover.
Lord protect us from these nutters!
