You do realize Apple's streaming trial is not really free, right? Like, bandwidth and hosting rack up millions of dollars in costs that Apple will provide themselves for the 3 month free trial that millions of users will use.

Many artists actually support Apple's model and I praise them for that. They know that holding out 3 months will be beneficial to them once Apple starts paying a few percentage points higher for their patience.

Browsing through this thread.....it's disappointing that any of you would call her greedy for this or "wanting more money".....it shows a complete lack of reading comprehension (or just basic following along with her post). Did you not read the full post?

Taylor has sold millions upon millions of records full of material she has written. Even if she didn't earn money from music, she makes millions from endorsements and touring. She's rolling in it and has has more money than she knows what to do with for the rest of her life. Taylor is not someone who flaunts their money either.

She does not need more money.....the difference in funds between having her music on Apple Music and not having it on there is so completely negligible to her. But to so many other artists, mainly new artists trying to break into the business, that difference is considerable. She knows that people trying to break into the business as a producer or songwriter behind the scenes will have an incredibly hard time getting a career started with the way these things are going. They won't be making nearly enough money to live on and will have to split their time with other jobs. Their face isn't the one being displayed and marketed, they will have a harder time getting discovered and they can't play shows to earn more income. They rely on the royalties they receive from cuts they have on songs.

Also knew nearly all those because I listen to country and Hunter was famous there before and I frequently check out Spotify's indie playlists.

Isn't this the whole point of a streaming service? Apple provides the platforms, and artists provide their music. Without either, a service like this would not exist.

Apple already eliminated a free tier from their plans due to labels' pressure. Now indie artists want Apple to pay for the 3 month trial? Apple can't please everyone. They would rather have big name artists than small ones because most people signing up for AM listen to mainstream anyway.

There is no silver bullet.
