Well you gave that example about Pokerface or let's say for the albume the Fame. Who would hire ghostwriters for their debut album? That's a lot of money that a starting artist does not have. She had 3 outfits in total, what makes you believe she'd splash out cash for a ghost writer. Not that it's unheard of in general but unheard of for a debut and something being in a different sound as well. It was a gamble as it is.
