I think it's pretty obvious that Bey & Jay are friends of the mafia. I remember when Sia gave an interview about how she wrote "Pretty Hurts" and Bey heard that Rih was interested in recording that song (the fact that Rih wanted that crappy song in the first place was the first real warning sign for R8) so Bey's team quickly stepped in and threw a huge bag of money at Sia just to purchase the song (these are Sia's own words). I mean, sounds very mob-like to me.
