While the cream of the music biz crop will be rolling into Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium Wednesday night for the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, at least one multiple Grammy nominee will be conspicuously absent.
Rapper Jay-Z, who is nominated in three Grammy categories this year, is boycotting the ceremony, citing what he sees as the Grammys’ continuing disrespect of hip-hop.
“I am boycotting the Grammys because too many major rap artists continue to be overlooked,” the rapper wrote in a statement announcing the move. “Rappers deserve more attention from the Grammy committee and form the whole world. If it’s got a gun everybody knows about it; but if we go on a world tour, no one knows.”
Okay, but where was he when Macklemore was sweeping Rap, and they weren't even bothering to air Hip-Hop categories?
Jay-Z is a phony who only cares about himself now. I hate him personally, even though he has bops and Bey is everything.
