FF7 was/is amazing. The gameplay of the genre has evolved so much since then to address pacing issues, so of course it's easy to look back and complain about that. But let's be real, JRPG's were never as much about that as they were about immersing yourself in the world and the epic fantasy. The story, music, atmosphere, and overall production value in FF7 are magnificent. I replayed it recently, and it's even better than I remembered.

The best JRPG's of all time (Terranigma and Chrono Trigger) had amazing and addictive gameplay. The incredible stories just complemented it. If you only want to immerse yourself in a world, might as well watch a movie.

Breathe Me does NOT fit it so well. Don't even try it. Breathe Me is about genuine moments of absolute helplessness and loneliness. It's not about saying goodbye to your family and people getting married, and then flash-forwards of everyone dying. I love the finale, but don't even try the Breathe Me part.

They're not the same at all.

Movies are linear. Games give you the power (or at least the illusion) to explore the world at will and make choices that affect the world around you.

I don't see how CT's gameplay is any more addicting or even fundamentally different than the other JRPGs of the time though. I immensely enjoyed JRPG gameplay in general at the time. It doesn't really appeal to me as much anymore.

inside out is going to be pure magic. the main allure of pixar's best films has always been how they've deftly managed to capture raw human emotion through robots, fish, toys. making a film that focuses its entire attention on those emotions is kinda genius.

I was not talking about lyrics

When I watched the finale for the first time my English wasn't that good to understand what Sia sings about. Even if lyrics don't fit but the music is.

The finale is so powerful so any basic sad song would ruin it but thankfully the creators found a perfect match
