When I say Prism I mean the album didn't sell like TD . So in some cases it's an underperformance .

Prism was very successful compared to most of those albums tbh. Also Nicki underperformed with her new album as well (even worse than RR)

I kinda see where he is coming from. The album itself was somewhat of a downright spiral in terms of sales from Teenage Dream. I know "Roar" and "Dark Horse" were huge but every other single failed, which is not common for Katy. In general, the era is a lot less memorable than One of the Boys and Teenage Dream.

Madonna learned from the mishaps and didn't dwell further into that direction...when she released Erotica...she didn't go on to release something similar..she did a 180 and released Bedtime Stories (something light and soft)

when she released American Dream...she didn't dwell further in that direction...she did a 180 and released Confessions

Gaga however has made up excuses for ARTPOP and will probably keep going in that direction

Not really, lol. Nobody expected for Katy to smash the way she did. She sold 4m ww (which is pretty damn amazing in today's market), Dark Horse and Roar were legitimate smashes, her tour is going to do 200m+, she's a King when it comes to streaming (Dark Horse and Roar will both reach 1 billion views. Heck, even her flop TIHWD has 300m+ views on YouTube), and she performed at the SuperBowl to end it off. All in one era.

It's not. Y'all have this idea that once you have a huge era, you have to keep replicating that success which is totally unreasonable.

Katy was the top female during the PRISM era according to several reliable sources. PRISM was definitely a very successful follow-up to Teenage Dream.

Those two singles had great longevity though. I remember Roar was in the top 3 on iTunes US 3-4 months after it was released. Then Dark Horse came along and ended up being even bigger.
