Do you actually read what you're writing? Since when
almost 2x platinum has been good for a lead single, esp. after a long break? 4.4m Worlwide is kinda sad. She actually didn't manage to get top 3 with not one, not two but three singles. That has
never happened so far.
Everything that you mentioned so far just shows how lackluster the era has been so far, how the general public and many of her fans does not connect with the music. Less than 1 million sold WORLDWIDE for a 2nd single from a long anticipated album is not bad - it's getting pathetic. The sole fact that the base is getting happy by BBHMM climbing to the lower part of top 40, speaks volumes. Never have our expectations of a Rihanna's work been so low. NEVER
I live in a small, irrelevant country. But our taste in music is pretty straightforward and on par with the rest of the world. This is the first time/era that I barely hear/watch Rih's music. Sometimes I listen Top 40 radio stations for 10 or more hours and they play FFS quite rare. I have heard BBHMM ONCE, AO NEVER. That has NEVER happened before. So yeah, the era so far has been a disaster, a let down, followed by another let down. The only 2 good things were actually FFS Grammy performance and BBHMM IHeartMusic Awards performance. The material that she has put on so far, is NOT on par with her previous work.
Let's not forget how everything else was so messy - boring FFS video, AO (my fav song out of the 3) sounds kinda unfinished and not polished enough, TIDAL, non existant video of BBHMM, soo many snippets (I get how Hive have been feeling all this time now), NO album title, NO tracklist, NO release date, NO nothing.
Does this sound a good era to you? The only people that are fine with the era so far, are the ones that put Rihanna on JessieJ level.
