It's funny you say that, my early theory professor was pretty much the same. He was a guest educator from another university and he only taught from a classical perspective.
Plus he was a percussionist.
No no no, not for me lol. Theory homework always took the longest. Nobody had time for it, literally.
I got tendinitis in both my wrists so I was advised to not take any more piano and there were still two more semesters and it was a necessity to graduate. But there was the possibility of paralysis so, no, lol, plus music theory is a bitch. I respect anyone who is good with it.
The only Mariah albums I actively listened to were Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, TEOM and her latest album. And even then, I hadn't known any of her #1s (bar WBT and Heartbreaker) from these albums before.
