the reason madonna has far more classics than Mariah is because her singles had the perfect balance of quality and accessibility. mariah's singles were accessible (esp. to the US public) but they were bland, monotonous and forgettable for the most part. often her standout hits were her covers
Mariah is fairly irrelevant around here, I don't know if I'd know who she is, or hear even one of her songs if I didn't get into the stan world.

Before I even became a Mariah fan I knew Hero, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby (I would bop a biT ), Heartbreaker (MTV played it 1 morning during the 'Killer Collabs' segment), We Belong Together, Shake It Off, Say Somethin' (MTV Hits played this one morning ), Touch My Body, Up Out My Face (biggest classic ever to peak at #100), Obsessed, and Oh Santa! (Nick Cannon was the chairman of TeenNick or w/e, and for some reason they'd always play the song. Her 2nd husband even getting her payola. ).
Oh and ofcourse, the biggest female song ever, AIWFCIY!
Like a Virgin is a classic.
La Isla Bonita is a song everyone has heard at least once in their lifetime. Madge is embarrassing today but she was a fun girl once.

Usually, the Monsters deny Madonna's impact because they feel this need to make sure we know that Madonna & Gaga are separate entities, so it's almost a rite of passage for a Gaga stan to drag Madonna & deny her impact.

I guess a lot of people feel that since her videos don't get any views and she doesn't get many streams on Spotify that she "doesn't have classics" but that's not taking radio into play. You can hear a song by her anywhere that isn't a Top 40 station lol.
