I have always been a Madonna fan and Hard Candy has never ever appealed to me in the slightest. I even stanned for COADF. It's when people began to turn their heads to her for real. 4 Minutes got lucky.
I remember people praising Madonna's body and agility in the Hung Up video. But that's all. I was actually surprised when I found out later that it had been a big hit. At the time most singles charts were kinda useless cause nothing was selling, so I wasn't paying attention to them.
Hung Up was my jam, I remember getting ready for school in the morning, I think I had 10/11 y, and some TV station would play videos and HU was on almost every morning. It's still a bop.
It really is disturbing how gung ho we all were on attacking and destroying people's careers for being against a terrorist operation helmed by George W. Bush. Poor Dixie Chicks and Madonna.
iHype doesn't remember Hung Up because (a) he was like 7 when it came out (b) the Urban community does not care about Madonna (c) the U.S. blacklisted it and it was literally one of the only places on Earth that it didn't go Top 3.
Or maybe because it peaked at #40 on US Radio?
Why would I remember a single that peaked at #40 on radio 10 years ago?
Common sense isn't really a clicking thing with some I guess.
Hung Up was everywhere. I mean, a song peaking in the Top 10 and selling a **** ton without radio support? Radio is not the end all be all of anything (?) so...
