Well, Love On Top was a huge hit. It felt really big when it came out. We all talked about this the other night.
Yeah, it was a huge R&B hit, but its stats are not on its side when it comes to mainstream. But that won't stop it from being played and reference years down the line, just like "Lovegame" being a top 5 hit won't guaranteed people caring or remembering.
I should really give 4 a listen sometime since I really like all of the singles except for Run The World lol. I could listen to End of Time and Love On Top forever.
Woah now.
She has three - JD/PF/BR
All sold well, still get spins on the radio, and are pretty much known by most casual Top 40 listeners.
Let's give credit where it's due.
With Katy you have to wait because she has so many hits at once.
I'm sure in the 90's it looked like Mariah had 20 classics because she had so many hits in a short span. You'll just have to wait down the line with Katy like Mariah, and see which ones stick and which ones don't. I mean if One Sweet Day couldn't hold up, and Always Be My Baby was the smallest of Fantasy / OSD / ABMB and held up the most we really don't know which of her hits will hold up, besides the obvious ones (Roar, Firework) and the obvious ones that won't hold up (Part of Me, Last Friday Night).
I'd go out on a limb and say Kitty's classics w/ be:
Firework, Roar, and Dark Horse.
I don't see I Kissed a Girl making it to their level, it's not really referenced still today.
California Gurls is the only one I'm mixed on.

Bey, her best album. Countdown, Dance For You, 1+1, I Miss You, and Party are all among her best (and most underrated by the GP) songs.
How didn't Alejandro become a huge hit in the USA when the rest of the whole world loved it? If any of her hits deserved that, it was that song.
A lot of people thought the video was weird. WeirdGa her debut.
+ it was the 7th single in TF/TFM in the course of less than 2 years. It was bound for her to stop rolling the huge huge hits.
By then she was really overexposed, and anything released wasn't really gonna go #1.
The fact it still went T5 is impressive in it's self.
