This was the Kelly base when she sang at the BBMAs.

Woo turned on the radio after getting on the road from the airport and Bad Blood was on. I can LITERALLY annotate every last line of this song with a note describing that particular line's weakness. I'm still in shock that a songwriter who is usually so on point (Hell even in this era, see BS and Style) ****ed up so badly

I can do the same for most of the songs on 1989 though

Well yeah but AYHTDWS is fun and energetic unlike BB
just heard M5's TSGHLAMF. Lyrics are a mess as usual, but I'm LOVING how authentically 80s the backing track and melody is. Style and WTWM are faux80s, but this is the real deal!

IMO the only 80s pop song of the last year that sounded truly 80s was Sledgehammer. And well, All That of course but Carly can do no wrong tbh.
At least SIO has a trumpet and Bad Blood is Taylor experimenting with hip-hop. HYGTG is pure generic pop - it's good and catchy, but really nothing new for Taylor (especially given she does it better with other songs on the SAME album) or pop music.
