Regarding my comments earlier on ARTPOP being one of the last albums to feel like an event, I meant that within the context of pop culture fans. The album (and BEYONCÉ, but that was different and much larger of an event for obvious reasons) was something everyone wanted to hear whether they were Gaga fans or not. Swinefest, Do What U Want, Venus, all of it was awaited by a lot of people in other fanbases even and so many people listened to the album when it leaked and talked about it, good and bad. Then the era went downhill, but even then it was talked about. It just felt so momentous to me but maybe I'm being a biased Gaga fan. Who knows.
