Even if Avril immerses herself in music again, she'll need a whole new marketing/rebranding blitz in order to make the populace (including whatever is left of her fanbase) care about her again. And, of course, Epic doesn't have the means to do that.
Even if Avril manages to crawl back to RCA, those fatsuits won't risk investing their $$$$ in rebuilding an unprofitable flop artist. Just look at what they did to Xtina and Shakira.
Ciara doesn't have a team full of crazed control freaks and micromanagers. Plus, Ciara isn't passive like Avril. The reason why GL got delayed so much.

She's clearly in it for the money at this point, hence her not reaching into her own pocket to give her fans a decent video for GYWYL.
You're right, nobody is going to invest in the total re-haul she'll need to find success again. And Epic can't even send their artists abroad to promote. In an ideal world she'd have Bieber's team pushing for her but the reality is nobody has any interest in her, positive or otherwise.
Are you insinuating Avril has control freaks and micromanagers in her life btw? Spill whatever tea you're brewing sis.

And I 100% agree, the less she over-thinks it, the better the result. And the fewer people she works with the better too. She had like 5 other people helping her with the pop songs on self-titled and they all sounded terrible and were exactly the same content-wise. She does much better writing with just one other person, or two tops.
TBDT took a really short time to wrap up, as well as Girlfriend and some of the fan / critic faves off the album, and it resulted in one of her biggest eras. Those behind the scenes were amazing, she just got in the studio with Luke, hung out for a bit and bashed out a couple of ridiculous hooks without breaking a sweat. You can tell when she stews over a song for ages (Fly) because they rarely work (Fly).
|
That's why I don't want any Xmas ****. That could be only good for sales (even tho it would most likely flop hard like Colbie Caillat's, it's not that easy to pull out a successful Xmas album)
She should make a hard rock album. Like u're married to nickelback yet you put out basic Carly Rose Jepson type of pop ****?
Fly is so bad tbh

Ciara has been pushing back her last 3 albums. Seems like Epic just doesn't care anymore and releases, which is a good news. Too bad Avril has nothing to release.

Bye, I wish she made pop music as good as Carly Jepsen. Cher Lloyd rejects more like.
I'm not sure how she'd pull off a hard rock album - teen angst made UMS feel heartfelt and real but I don't feel it would be very convincing coming from a married couch potato but I can see her doing something alternative along the veins of GYWYL / How You Remind Me / Bad Girl. Which is how her last album should have veered considering the imagery for it.
Fly is actually so terrible. I spent a week trying to like it but it's just...let me not.

They're both terriblous
It's not hard to make a rock album I think especially if you have connections to Nickelback and Sum 41 Just live production with a lots of drums. Her voice would fit it so well.
But I guess she considered WTH and HTNGU to be a hard rock so I can stay delusional.
I was really looking forward to it but it's one of her worst songs.

She worked with a maximum of two collaborators (Max Martin and Shellback) on four GL tracks and the results were disastrous.
At this point, I can't think of any professionals who would want to collaborate with Avril, and (at the same time) create a decent product.

So I guess that makes Meghan Trainer a local artist.
And you'd think that having Miley's manager would help Avril, but I take it that Larry is as useless as LA Reid.

Nickelback are the world's most hated band, and a scourge to rock music.
If anything, Avril is capable of making pop music that employs organic sounds (i.e. live guitars and live drums), just like you heard on TBDT. And not the processed, synthesized instruments/beats that MM created on WTH.

This base looks interesting
Let's try to be super optimistic for the Christmas album. What if she tried to showcase powerhouse vocals for it not the Oh Holy Night type? Then it becomes succesful. We might get a vocalist album for AL7.
Oh btw, I've never welcomed Fly on my phone nor my laptop.

I want a new studio album. It can't be that hard to record & master 12 songs. I heard Beyonce made Bday in 2 weeks & it was successful. Why do we have to wait till 2018?

At this stage, whatever the **** she releases, which is meant to be no-one-care. I rather she go with something she wants to do, something she is able to use her full passion. PLEASE, I don't want WTH, HTNGU anymore. I want Hello Heartache, Everybody Hurts.

She has no passion to music with rock routine now, to me. I rather she goes with something else. A raw sound like GL is awesome too ~

I guess her way of getting back at RCA for forcing her into the studio was to write a few terrible songs for her own album. I do believe that was the exception to the rule though.

They sent Meghan to a few other countries to perform AATB (Australia and the UK I believe?), but she's literally their hottest artist at the moment. Look at the rest of their roster though. At least RCA understood Avril still had a global fanbase and tried to milk that the best they could.
I don't think he's useless, I just think he has different priorities with his clients, because he realizes he gets more out of some than others. Miley is clearly a top tier client, Avril isn't. Miley has done a great job maintaining her relevance since her last era ended, and has even gathered a lot of good press since - but she's also actively chasing new ventures and making music. What does Avril do between eras?

Take a hide like she is dead.
I could see she wants more privacy than previous. She doesn't seem liking to be more famous. She just wants to write the music she wants, has a little fans to listen her music and go for more and more personal life

Nickelback are also one of best selling rock acts of this millenium so I'd say people liked them. It's just that at some point all their music started ripping off itself & didn't bring anything new.
But in Avril's case the Nickleback-kinda rock production would be a new thing. I want the sound to be heavy, but not exactly as weird as on "Bad Girl".

She will not use her passion. She'll record Xmas album, calls it flop, Xmas pass, album flops and she'll be done with it as quick as it leaves Billboard 200.

Or L.A. Reid's when it comes to Epic. I wonder if she or anyone from her team (more likely) checks this thread out, the amount of negativity towards her career (me included sometimes, I recognize) is too much sometimes

The best thing we can do for ha is be honest, I pray she does read this and is inspired.

Inspired to do what some people want, or what she REALLY wants?
She can't please everybody, that's for sure. Some people want her to go more "pop", and some people want her to go more "rock/alternative"; some people want her to keep releasing "fun" songs, other people want her to get serious and have more mature image overall. Right now, after AL, there's some kind of dissatisfaction amongst her fan base; not only because the lackluster AL album/era, but also due to "all over the place" thing she portrayed, going from bratty to mature in just a single/video; this lack of consistency is confusing to fans and even GP. While I disliked TBDT, at least she had solid and consistent image throughout all the era; but after that, and especially last era, there hasn't been much of a consistency.

I'm here for a christmas album, you guys are so pessimist i don't even like visiting here anymore. Stop saying "Avril's career is over" or something like that, Avril is a human not a machine. I'm happy with a christmas release, if is that what she really wants and it seems like it.

And both humans (or rather, their careers) and machines have expiry dates, which is perfectly normal. I've no idea why people discussing that would upset you since literally nobody is asking her to stop making music. If you have anything of worth to contribute to the discussion during this downtime, feel free to change the subject. As of now, people are talking about what she could do better.
I'm all for an xmas album too, but some people aren't. Those types of records are usually very polarizing in general.

Well, they want an album they really like, and quality is often in the eye/ear of the beholder, what you think is good might not be what another fan think; remember that TBDT is the most appreciated album by critics and UMS is for fans, and viceversa when it comes to less appreciated. Genre may be important, because some people might not like certain kind of songs she might release.
I think we can all agree that she really needs to release what she really wants, no more label interferences, and hopefully she will feel "re-inspired" and will care about giving better performances. Success is complete secondary, and even though I have my own preferences when it comes to the music I want from her, I wouldn't like she released something she doesn't really want even though it's close to my taste.
