I wasn't on ATRL back then but the hype & anticipation was very real. Everyone at school would not stop talking about Lady Gaga and even my mum loved Born This Way. I remember Radio 1 played the premiere twice because of demand.

No, we won't see anything like that again, not from her or anyone else.

How is it being "front loaded" relevant. You are saying it's bad that a record breaking amount of people bought the song as soon as it came out, making it an instant smash, rather than over a long period of time? How is that a bad thing?

Yes, the argument between high peaks vs longetivity plays on. Gaga's Sales decline album by album. She had a higher high than Katy, but her sales have floundered and but 2 of her last 5 singles have been "hits," if we wanna use that word. Meanwhile, Katy has never had as high as gaga did in her highest, but she's been basically consistent and has scored more hits, and more memorable ones, than gaga ever will.

Not trying to discredit gaga's TF(M). She totally slated that era; the music was on par and her chart success was fire. Judas was the true beginning of her downfall

but anyway, the point i was making still stands. katy's in mine, and you're clearly a gaga fan, but what does it matter? duh we will support our faves lol

hey, i'm not saying one is better. undeniably, gaga at her peak was higher than katy ever--at her peak or not. but i think katy has also been more consistent than gaga. but forget names, i'm saying peak vs. consistency. that's a very common, recurring argument here that lots of different artists fit into. do you know what i mean? again, not saying either is better, just that it's an interesting debate!
