I never got the meaning of "inspiration challenge". All challenges are meant to inspire you in some way or another. The only non-inspiration challenge I can think of is the Twitter challenge (which won't happen). In all the other challenges, including the song titles one, the main point is for each songwriter to draw inspiration from the task.

What I can say though is that challenge #5 has nothing to do with song titles, isn't similar to the current challenge and it will be intriguing

As long as we don't have to write about a photo/specific theme. Or a specific person...

Besides, round 2 (song titles) did not have a theme or a picture or a person, but you hated that challenge!

I can't tell you to write whatever you want in each round (like round 1), cause you won't grow that way.

I don't mean a theme or a picture or a person in general. Just some of the options have been really restricting, and with this round, some themes are easier to excel in than others (I bet the people who get love/hate and life/death are going to do really well).

I'm nearly done but my gut is telling my chorus is too basic. Feedback from previous songs:

"I feel like the chorus could have hit much harder. The highlights of the song are all in the verse for me."

"The chorus honestly didn’t really do much for me. And I felt like you could’ve done much better with said chorus."

"The chorus and the bridge fell a little flat for me"

"The chorus didn’t work for me."

"I do feel a disconnect between the chorus and verses"

The chorus always fails me

Round 1,2 and 3 were really broad. Round 3 introduced a little bit of a restriction, but the pictures could be interpreted in many different ways.

Round 4 had more restriction than the previous rounds, but you could all twist your keyword in different ways. Plus, each of you had back-ups to make it easier

As for love / hate and life / death, it's one of the hardest pair of opposites. Life is hard to write about because it includes way too many themes one can use and death is cliche and has been used multiple times throughout the season. Love is also cliche and overdone. I guess "hate" works. But it's much better to have rare, weird and non-typical opposites, cause that gives you more options.

Yeah, but mine and Sam's back-up was "hot/cold", so...

Maybe I'm just bitter because I can write above love or death but war is a really tough one.

I don't remember how long "Little Birds" took me to write. It was days but the individual sections came in minutes, a day or so apart. Whereas "My Paradise" took two full days of constant rewriting.

I've written so many depressed songs about my life though, the one I wrote last season is my favourite and got me #2 one week...

I wouldn't have minded going with Hot/Cold tbh. I think there would have been some pretty good concepts. But you seemed pretty keen on War/Peace and I didn't really mind either way (and thought that definitely sounded more interesting) so I was more than happy to go with it. But Peace was my only option because I've already written a song about War. I thought you said War was suited to your style though?
