That picture does appear to be photoshopped unfortunately. But it shouldn't come as that big a surprise seeing as her own damn fans go in on her for her weight ever single day. Of course she's gonna feel almost a subconscious need to edit her photos since even the people that supposedly "love" her criticize her for something so ultimately trivial.

I think "Monster" and "Swine" still very much tie in with it, though.

Swine, yes. Monster I disagree with. It's about her fear of sex, sure, but it's all pretty consensual in the song. "He ate my heart and then he ate my brain" is pretty clear that she fell in love and he's all he can think about., plus the whole narrative is about her choosing to hook up with this guy.

I agree with this. The only song that Gaga has done that is truly about rape is Swine. I mean, if Monster and Just Dance were about rape, Gaga would have referenced it by now

I must say, I really thought Gaga had it together when it came to her self-image. It's so ironic that after Born This Way her insecurities came to light instead of being healed.

BTW was for her fans, not herself. She used to have an eating disorder, she will always struggle with her image.

The fact that you'll complain about her being "fat" one day and then about photoshopping her photos the next. The lack of self-awareness.

It probably didn't help that a photoshopped picture of her on tour caught the media's attention and then they decided to call her fat
And also her OWN fans, will call her fat when she's not, that would cause damage to anyone's confidence

Right, especially when her own fans obsess over the fact that she isn't a twig. Poor Gaga, her insecurities

And then they'll 360 and drag her for photoshopping the occasional picture to fit the damn body standards they beg of her.

But I recall her saying sometime during or after (not sure) the BTW era that she had to get over her insecurities before she could help her fans with theirs. Then you have the Body Revolution on LM.com etc. I actually thought she was growing thick skin. Heck, being who she is requires thick skin. Imagine all the people who've told her to act, dress and be "normal".
I've personally never criticized her body, but I feel that if the cause for her drop in self-esteen is partly because of her fans then she seriously needs to re-evaluate her closeness to them. The fans that she meets are crazy and fickle minded and they can't even be taken seriously on social media. Her over-emphasized need to connect to them is also a reason why she's been making some unnecessary creative decisions.
I just think the photoshop situation is a little dissappointing, that's all.

I'm not saying it's you specifically, and also I know it's not just the fans, but she's gone through the whole eating disorder thing. It is very real for her, it's not like she's just going to pack up her insecurities and ship them to the pacific ocean, it doesn't work like that. The body revolution was because of her insecurities, not because she was getting rid of them.
The problem isn't that she has insecurities about her weight, it's that we keep equating things like "thick mindedness" with not having any insecurities at all. Her insecurities are not directly related to social media either because her issues were before she was famous. I think they just add to those insecurities. I think we're just using it as examples because we can blatantly see it going on in the threads about her. Don't get me wrong, I'm also a bit disappointed with it, but I'm not surprised either.

I disagree. The "ate my heart and... Brain" make sense in context of rape, and in context of Fusari, since they reportedly dated for a while. The, "boy, now, get your paws right off of me" takes away from any consensual, and the bridge makes perfect sense in context of rape.
"I wanna Just Dance
But he took me home instead
Uh oh! There was a monster in my bed"
While "Just Dance" is possibly not about rape, the song speaks about having "a little bit too much" and losing all sense of time and place, a common occurrence with drugs and date rape. And the "fear of sex" is the only fear that Gaga fully personified and declared a "monster". I don't think she would do that unless she had personal experience, and I don't think she would call any consensual sex partner a "monster".
