And tbh I think it depends on your taste. Some people view her as an actress because they love her movies and she's this Hollywood A-lister. Some as a singer because they stan for her music and she's this mega superstar. Others as a actress/singer. Others a triple threat. It all depends what you're into.

As a stan, I mostly stan for her music. Her films don't do anything for me since the 90s. But some are guilty pleasures though.

All me and my best friend cared about were Jen and Cube's well being! Every time either of them were possibly in peril we would yell at the screen!

And yes, that's Jon Voight. Angie's dad. His accent and facial expressions were so annoying. I was laughing every time he spoke or was onscreen!

She was the most successful crossover artist since I believe in two decades. In Hollywood its almost unheard of it. Critics believed it would've been career suicide.

Jlo had multiple hit movies and hit songs. Madonna had like Evita and thats it. Its not like all artists ran to have a career in movies after she did 1 movie.

Well Madonna had other movies prior to Evita, such as Desperately Seeking Susan which may not be huge hits but are certainly iconic. My point was not that all these other people were HUGE successes but that the idea of a singer also going into film was hardly something far fetched, nor would it not have been done by other singers if J.Lo had not. Also Diana Ross, despite not being in many films was still an Oscar nominated actress. Whitney Houston also had a quite successful film career even without making LOTS of movies, and while J.Lo has since stacked up a lot of hits, when she first started being an icon for the modern singer/actress, she didn't have that many.

She also has benefitted from never really having a breakdown. As sad as it is that the GP/ATRL-ers pick people apart for this, the reality is that it shows a weakness that people pounce on.

For example, after Christina flopped she had a bit of a rough time in the media in regards to her personal life, weight gain etc.
When Gaga flopped she was getting messy on twitter and all that.
Britney’s breakdown was prior to her flops but she’s kind of always setting herself up to be a bit of a punchline with her interview/performances etc (if she has any).

J.Lo remains unbothered. Shows up to the next event looking as lovely as usual, is sophisticated and confident. You can’t really bash someone for this.

Doesn’t that seem a little high considering her last 5 albums have sold under 1 million WW on average? And she only has 8 studio albums. That would mean her first three sold about 50 million.
