It's weird to me that American Life basically swung a huge wrecking ball on Madonna's career in the USA but most people in the USA probably don't even remember that happening. Though I see a lot of apologetic Americans today that like to pretend their gung-ho nationalistic fervor towards Afganistan and Iraq never happened, so maybe that is why.
