it might flop because everyone is on diff times of the day and has different schedules....
things are going to go on in there and people will refer to them later on on the boards and the people that weren't there are going to be clueless as to what people are talking about the day after or whatever because they missed out.
ALSO i think combining the blogs and lounge would be way too hectic and crazy. PLUS blogs are a private area for members only.... are yo going to make the lounge private to0 then? THat might really decrease the page views ATRL gets everyday....
I dont think that it is ATRL's fault that people are posting less... i think its the quality of alot of the newer members... or maybe its just the economy

The live chat feature is basically people posting in live-time, so the posts will still be there for later reference. It will replace the need to refresh the page for people who have javascript enabled.
(Edit: Athens beat me to it by re-posting the original video)
I just do not like the idea of live chat because then there would be pointless conversations, much more worse than the conversations that occur currently. I mean, so many threads go off-topic already.
Definitely agree on the whole blogs vs. lounge aspect you posted. I think some people enjoy the private posting of blogs, while more public and general topics could be posted in the lounge.
My suggestion: After the new server is installed (THANKS JOE!), we bring that the whole "Members Introduction" thread so more people can get to know each other.
Also, I wonder if a member could have a weekly or monthly thread in the lounge, sort of like Travis's talk show, so there could be more basic interaction? I guess I can't ask for more people to be interested in posting or replying to news articles and random quiz threads, but if we combine some sort of talk show as a weekly thing ATRL has to look forward to as a whole, maybe more people will care? Podcast?
