Bang Bang was all Jessie and Nicki. Ariana was there only to give it good first week sales, her presence on the song is so forgettable. Nicki's verse is often called the best part of the song and her wardrobe malfunction at the VMA's is iconic
Anaconda wasn't just a "streaming hit", it's 2x platinum in the US and it's impact was huge. Only was a pretty big hit (peaked at #12) and Truffle Butter was top 20 despite having no video, no promo, and only being released because radio was already playing it. Plus TPP has so much more potential for hits with Feeling Myself, GOYK, and the rerelease of Bed of Lies

And you're saying TNC is a hit for just going gold while TPP hit Gold months ago, even though it was released in December?

TNC was Iggy's debut album. Nicki was already an established artist, not going Gold would have been embarrassing for her, right?

Ari was the main draw for Bang Bang, let's not discredit her.  It was originally her song, after all...
TPP era was really local to the US tho, Anaconda wasn't very big for being a #2 peaking song, and its impact was very in-the-moment. I still bop to it though!

I never said TNC was a hit either, it obviously isn't. I just stated a fact and said it went Gold. You said TPP was a hit album.

Here are the facts.
-Ariana is the sole reason Bang Bang was successful, despite her contribution to the song being overshadowed and minimal.
-Anaconda was NOT a smash hit. It was a streaming driven hit that radio couldn't play because the song sucks and its sales (a little under 2 million) are not that good given the views, the hype, the single cover buzz and the promo
-The album was a hit in the US and a minor underperformance globally because of Bed Of Lies killing any buzz she had
-Only and Truffle Butter were huge US urban hits, but not necessarily global, which is fine
-Feeling Myself won't be a hit, urban radio already used it and dropped it (#7 peak)
-The Pinkprint is a bigger era than TNC in the US, but Fancy is bigger than Nicki's career globally.

And Only featured 3 BIG names, 4 counting Nicki. Truffle Butter featured 3 big names. They contributed to the songs being hits.
Black Widow featured Rita Ora, she isn't big. Fancy featured Charli XCX, she wasn't big at that time. Beg For It featured MO, she was unkown.
