I remember before I went off to college when it came out and someone played it at a house party and people were dancing, and then someone said "ew why are you dancing like ****? (f word for gays) this song is for ****", and they stopped dancing. I didn't hear Gaga much again at house parties, whereas before she had always been played and even straight guys wouldn't be afraid to say they liked her.
I imagine similar conversations happened across the world.
Kind of makes you reconsider how effective her "born this way!!!11" campaign was.
If she can send Koons to the top 10 with INSANE longevity after an era of backlash, then her next era is poised to build her momentum even further after the Oscars and AHS. The benefit of people hopping on the "FLOP!" bandwagon is that now they've perceived her as down and out, they'll be more susceptible to support the typical Hollywood comeback.
