Since when did the BET Awards reflect America as a whole? The channel is about black people. M.I.A. got the best new artist nomination because she only became relevant to BET this past year with Paper Planes and Swagga Like Us. It's kind of weird, maybe insulting to her career since she's done so much before, but hey it's BET.
