You monsters received so many lashings and draggings, that at this point you want other people to experience the same.
And that's pretty sad.

After Gaga's Grammy win, universally-praised Grammy and Oscar performances, and her landing a role on one of TV's most popular shows, our wounds have healed and the scars are barely visible.
Rihanna flopping worse than Gaga did in 2013 is just something fun to laugh at, to be honest. The only people who still seem to be bothered by ARTPOP are not Gaga fans, rather everyone else. We've moved on, we accept that is was a massive underperformance. It's time for everyone else to let it go.
But of course you can't let it go, because you have to reach back two years to make yourselves feel better about what's happening to your fave currently.

That's par for the course, though, and not something to brag about. This idea that a popstar should be "embarrassed" for actually trying with the music they create makes no sense. If anything, it makes Rihanna look bad because she clearly doesn't care about her own career.
In addition, the investment is in Rihanna's music. In order to create one Rihanna song, over 10 writers, composers, and producers have to be paid. Of course costs are going to be cut in other areas when the music itself costs a fortune to create.
