B'DAY is the only album were she wasn't emulating anyone DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE in a way too.
I'd say SURVIVOR and THE WRITINGS ON THE WALL are her being herself too. DF = a group version of DIL so.
I AM is her doing Barbra and Celine. SASHA FIERCE is herself mixed with sth else that was not really good.

DF is literally DC "4" era they had control but they took full control of they music and made and Classic r&b album and made songs about where they was in they life !!!
Also the critics didn't think it was a bad album they was mad that it wasn't an album filled with bops
Just like 4 , DF showed they are true artist and sensitive about they craft
