No because everyone knows that GaGa plays a much bigger role in the production of her RedOne songs than Katy in her Dr. Luke songs because RedOne's songs with other artists sound nothing like his GaGa songs whereas Dr. Luke uses the same sound for everyone
Everyone knows? who's everyone? little monsters on twitter? you? And I find all of RedOne's productions to have a similar style, sorry! Some of Havana's songs could easily fit in BTW or even TF. Either way no one outside of atrl cares about the producers of songs. Katy is the face of her music and so is gaga, which was my point.
There's trap influences in literally dozens of rap/hip hop songs from over the course of the last decade
Pls get out more often
Mention them and I'll do my research, even if you can mention "dozens" it wasn't enough for a trend, I've heard about the dance trend, the urban trend, the rock trend but the trap trend? Never before Dark Horse.
No one is saying Katy Perry created trap music, she popularized it which you're proving with your comment.
No, she didn't. Like I said, tons of people already knew about trap and most people don't listen solely to top 40. She got a popular song out of it - yes, but she did not popularize the form of music itself.

Sorry 'bout it.
Clearly you do not grasp the concept of popular. Can you please point out a pop song with trap elements that was as popular and had the impact DH had? How can the "underground" music you speak of that doesn't chart in the top 40 be considered trend-setting?

Snobs on pop music forums are the worst
I'm far from a snob and I love Katy, but regardless, I'm gonna call a spade a spade. There aren't any songs that had trap elements that were as big as Dark Horse. But that's not what I'm talking about. Saying she made trap a thing/popular was just plain DUMB Trap (both pure trap and EDM trap) had HUGE followings before Dark Horse came out. If you think top 40 radio is actually reflective of what most people are actually listening too, you clearly do not get out enough and that's all there is too it

I do get out enough, at least to know what "popular" means. You're contradicting yourself. Music that doesn't chart inside "the top 40" is NOT considered "popular", at least that's what comon sense says. Having a trap breakdown was not a viable choice to make a song a hit before DH happened.
DH was a fresh sound for radio no matter how you want to spin it.
only white people think pop songs like Dark Horse are "trap music babay;]"
Hihihi I agree.
It's a pop song and jumped on the trap trend by including that trap breakdown ( )
It certainly didn't start any trends and it certainly isn't better than any Beyonce track/711
Even tho i hate Katy and her stans, I have to admit that Dark Horse did have a big impact on pop music. After Dark Horse blew up many artists started doing songs in the style of Dark Horse. "Trap" influences, a feature by a rapper, almost the same beat. A Good example would be Nick Jonas' "Numb"
Many have copied the formula for Dark Horse but have yet to be as successful.
Btw Dark Horse is trap, more EDM trap but still trap
